Vutivi Business News celebrates a special milestone during this month of October — we are turning five years old.
When we started this journey in 2020, our mission was simple but bold: to create a dedicated platform that tells the untold stories of small businesses, entrepreneurs, and informal traders.
Five years later, I can proudly say that we have not only built a strong publication, but we’ve also become a trusted partner in the small business ecosystem.

Celebrating Five Years of Empowering SMMEs
An exclusive event for entrepreneurs
by Vutivi Business News
From the beginning, we undertook to become the voice of the real backbone of our economy — the SMME sector.
At Vutivi Business News, we’ve covered stories of resilience, creativity, and innovation, often in places where others weren’t looking.
Whether it’s a young woman running a mobile salon in rural Limpopo or a spaza shop owner navigating red tape in Soweto, their stories matter. They shape our economy and our communities — and they deserve to be heard.
One of the achievements closest to my heart has been the launch of the Vutivi News Foundation, through which we are mentoring young, aspiring business journalists.
We recognised early on that to tell small business stories authentically we needed to empower a new generation of journalists who understood the sector from the ground up.
Through Vutivi News Foundation, we are training 13 young writers who contribute vibrant stories to the publication weekly.
They are storytellers with purpose, and they are proof that nurturing talent is as important as reporting the news.
Over the past five years, our impact has been real. Small business owners have told us how Vutivi Business News coverage has opened doors — from increased visibility and customer reach to partnerships and even funding opportunities.
When a local co-op gets noticed by a development agency because of a news article from Vutivi Business News, that’s the kind of ripple effect we’re proud of. We’re not just reporting the news — we’re helping to change lives. We are empowering tomorrow’s giants, one story at a time.
As we look ahead, we remain committed to growing our footprint, expanding our mentorship programs, and deepening our impact in underrepresented communities. To all our readers, partners, journalists, and the entrepreneurs who have trusted us with their stories — thank you. Here’s to the next five years of empowering small businesses through journalism.
