South Africa is positioning itself as a global hub for investment, partnerships, and economic growth, with the South African Investment Conference (SAIC) serving as a key platform to attract both local and foreign investors.
President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to the sixth SAIC at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg this morning.
Launched in 2018 by Ramaphosa, the SAIC has become the country’s premier platform for attracting both domestic and international investors, and for showcasing South Africa’s investment potential and sustained economic reforms.
Anchored in the theme “Invest. Partner. Prosper.” the Conference brings together government, global investors, development finance institutions and strategic partners to advance investment-led growth and strengthen South Africa’s role as a gateway for investment into the African continent.
The Investment Conference is structured as a coherent investment platform that moves from reform credibility to investor confidence, to deployable opportunities and long-term global partnerships, ensuring alignment between South Africa’s domestic development priorities and international investment interests.
The Presidency said the conference aims to mobilise investors as South Africa targets an additional R2 trillion in investment commitments over the next five years, building on the success of the first five conferences which collectively secured R1.5 trillion in commitments, with over R600 billion already invested in the economy.
“These investments have contributed to the establishment of new factories, mines and industrial facilities, playing a critical role in advancing South Africa’s socio-economic development through job creation, poverty reduction and efforts to address inequality.”
“The conference also serves as the formal launch platform of South Africa’s Second Investment Drive and is aligned with the priorities of the 7th Administration, including inclusive economic growth, employment creation, infrastructure development and economic reform. The conference takes place at a time of improved investor confidence, underpinned by progress in key structural reforms, including enhanced energy reliability, infrastructure development and economic recovery initiatives,” Ramaphosa’s spokesperson Vincent Magwenya said in a statement.
Strategic communication and business positioning key
As companies compete for funding and market opportunities, experts say strategic communication and clear business positioning are critical for success especially for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) looking to stand out.
Moshe Makola, Director at Busang Consultancy, told Vutivi Business News that entrepreneurs seeking funding must focus on clarity in their business model, market opportunity and growth strategy.
“Entrepreneurs need to focus on clarity, clarity in their business model, their market opportunity and their growth strategy. A well-positioned business that communicates effectively stands a much better chance of attracting the right investors,” he said.
Makola further advised businesses to prioritise partnerships aligned with their long-term vision.
“Growth comes from strong relationships, and those are built through trust, consistency and clear communication,” he added.
With investment platforms continuing to connect businesses, investors, and policymakers, stakeholders say strategic positioning and collaboration remain critical in driving economic growth and supporting business expansion across South Africa.
SAIC creates networking opportunties
Platforms such as SAIC create access to networks and decision-makers that small businesses often struggle to reach. Makola said businesses that invest in brand positioning, stakeholder engagement, and clear messaging stand a stronger chance of attracting funding.
“Investment conferences create access to networks, opportunities, and decision-makers that small businesses typically don’t have. However, the real benefit comes when businesses are well-prepared and positioned to communicate their value effectively,” he said.
