When Manare Nong talks about Kwena Africa Cleaning Solutions, it’s clear the Pretoria-based company is about far more than just sparkling floors.
At its heart, it’s a story of partnership, thoughtful service, and a quiet commitment to creating opportunities where they matter most.
The idea first took root in 2020 with Manare’s husband, Kwena Nong. He envisioned a hassle-free, one-stop solution where homeowners and businesses could sort out all their cleaning and maintenance needs under a single roof, rather than juggling multiple contractors.
Manare stepped in initially to support her husband’s dream, but over time, that support blossomed into a deeply shared passion.
“I started by supporting my husband’s vision,” she reflects, “but today I can proudly say that this is our business, our journey, and our shared vision.”
From its early days focused purely on standard cleaning, the couple has thoughtfully expanded their suite of services to cover almost every corner of domestic and commercial life.
Today, Kwena Africa manages everything from deep-cleaning carpets, couches, and mattresses to pest control, gardening, mobile car washes, sneaker cleaning, and even placing reliable nannies and domestic helpers. Their client list is just as diverse, spanning busy households and offices to guest houses, Airbnb hosts, and estate agents.
A major key to their growth has been a knack for solving everyday annoyances. Take their approach to carpet cleaning, for instance: for clients living in apartments or secure estates, drying large rugs outside isn’t always practical or permitted.
“Instead of expecting the customer to find a solution themselves, we come directly to their doorstep, collect the carpets, take them off-site for cleaning, and return them ready to use,” Manare explains.
Growing the brand hasn’t been without its hurdles. Navigating a crowded market, balancing costs, and standing out requires steady consistency. To stay connected with their audience, they rely on a blend of word-of-mouth recommendations, direct outreach, and a lively social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
Yet, amidst the hustle of marketing and scaling operations, the couple keeps their true North Star firmly in sight: creating meaningful employment.
“My husband often says, whenever we recruit someone, ‘Jobs will be created.’ That statement really represents what the business means to us,” says Manare. “Every time someone joins our team and gets the opportunity to earn an income and provide for themselves or their family, it reminds us why we started this business in the first place.”
Looking ahead, the duo plans to take Kwena Africa even further—expanding across South Africa, refining their internal systems, and continuing to invest in their team and equipment.
For Manare, the journey so far boils down to teamwork and shared belief: “Kwena had the vision, and together we are building it.”
