At 23, Ronewa Musimanyana is turning a simple idea about affordable household cleaning into a growing township-made brand.
The Ga-Rankuwa-born entrepreneur founded Tshilidzi Brightens Cleaning Related in 2024 to manufacture and supply cleaning products to households, schools, and local businesses.
The company recently opened its first physical retail store in Ga-Rankuwa. Moving beyond third-party distribution gives the brand a direct point of contact with its community, boosts local visibility, and allows customers to interact with the products firsthand. It marks a crucial shift from simply making a product to building a recognisable consumer brand.
Musimanyana identified an opportunity to produce locally sourced cleaning products that offer customers a cost-effective alternative to buying multiple single-purpose items. In response, the business developed a flagship three-in-one multipurpose cleaning formula, giving consumers a versatile solution designed to relieve pressure on household budgets.
However, building a functional manufacturing business from scratch has presented hurdles. Finding a reliable production partner proved difficult, while marketing and acquiring customers in an established market dominated by familiar, legacy brands remains an ongoing challenge. For a young enterprise, producing the goods is only the first step; convincing consumers to switch to a new name requires constant effort.
To overcome this, Tshilidzi Brightens gradually built a route to market through local retail networks. Its product line has secured shelf space in outlets such as SuperSpar, Junimart at Hebron Mall, and Total Morula Garage.
Now, the focus is on converting this local footprint into long-term, sustainable growth. For Musimanyana, scaling means managing every link in the value chain—from production consistency and quality control to marketing and wider distribution. Driven by an ambition to create employment and give back to his community, he views the new shop as the foundation for broader market reach.
From starting in 2024 to landing on retail shelves and opening a storefront, Musimanyana has built his enterprise step-by-step. The next test will be expanding beyond Ga-Rankuwa to establish Tshilidzi Brightens as a household brand nationwide.
