Women entrepreneurs were afforded an opportunity to present and sell various products during a trade exhibition hosted by the Maluti Crescent Mall in Phuthalitjhaba in the Free State.
Products ranged from atchaar, confectionery, cakes, knitwear, cosmetic products, deco, household items and other items.
The exhibition, which ran from 19 to 24 August, formed part of the mall’s Women’s Month celebrations and created an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to showcase their businesses.

“The idea was partly inspired by seeing many women in our community selling products and services on the streets and in informal trading spaces. What stood out to us was their courage and determination to take a chance on themselves. They are creating opportunities with the resources they have, and in many cases, they are taking risks simply because they believe in what they are selling. That entrepreneurial spirit reminded us that people should not be afraid to take risks, start small and believe in their ability to build something of their own,” said Marketing Coordinator of Maluti Crescent Mall, Moleboheng Mofokeng.
“As a mall, we also recognised that there are many entrepreneurs who are interested in exhibiting at shopping centres but may not always have access to these platforms,” she said.
Dimakatso Tsoaele, who owns D’katso Bakery, said the experience was positive and that they have asked the mall to consider hosting a similar initiative in the future.
Karabo C. Mofokeng, owner of Lass Cosmetics, described the exhibition as a great opportunity to showcase her business and connect with potential customers.
